Here and There

Coming on the horizon is a short story collection ebook I plan on publishing using amazon's handy new self-publishing tool kindledirect. With kindle direct its easy to publish and get your book viewed by thousands of potential buyers (of course with some promoting on your behalf as well) on amazon and other ebook stores.

My short story collection starts with a story entitled, 'The tale of Mr. James Peddleton' an otherwise pleasant man pushed to his limits for the amusement of Lucifer himself. What's great about short stories is that they help you develop your craft in a unique way. In a short story things need to happen fast. Each scene an event and each characters needs defined immediately in constructive and conclusive ways. More on this later.

Hey There

Hey there! Been about a minute eh? I'm back now, so sorry for not posting for so long. The thing is I haven't even been that busy haha. But I did get my first freelance gig recently as a writer for a production company writing essentially a pilot script for them for a dramatic series! Crazy right? Usually I only write comedy and comic scripts so this was a change. This led me to basically start researching and watching new shows near the subject matter that I'm writing which has helped significantly. I'm also enjoying taking a look back at the great Robert Mckee book, "Story". It's truly every screenwriter and writer in generals best friend!

Halfway through the big pilot as well which is great, I'm at Act II which is wonderful and meaty. SO much is happening it's crazy! I try to keep organized and really focus on my climaxes, scene drivers, character values and the charges of a scene in order to really make in general every scene a story event. I'm at the first draft stage which is essentially the rough so lots of just going forward and not so much looking back right now! It's fun working with different subject matter it really steps me outside my own comfort zone which is great for any artist. Currently finished the first issue of the graphic novel I'm writing recently as well which is good news! Just have to type it up and start the art process of it very soon! Times are tough however and I find myself looking for multiple revenue streams out there! I always visit specific search engines for this research like: www.google.com for all my financial and career and money saving tips and also: www.yahoo.com for their finance section. Mostly the personal finance section. I have to admit I can't get enough of these sites helpful tips! I do from time to time enjoy www.lifehacker.com and www.about.com as well for different needs of mine!

Glad to be blogging again! Till hoepefully soon!

For the Holidays

Looking so forward to this holiday season, and cannot wait for all the food! Very excited because of all the gifts I get to give everyone and the food, oh yeah, might have already said that! Merry Holiday Season! Santa's told me that it's all going good so far and well, I've been making my way to his location so far. Having one heck of a time too. I hitched a ride from a dwarf earlier this month and got no where. Apparently it's legal to drink and sleigh in his neck of the woods or at least that's what he told me? Soon though I shall arrive and help Santa....for next year. I'm going to arrive there far too late. Alas, me mates. As soon as I get my scanner I will upload my illustrations I've done for this season. Cheers!

Creator Owned Hobbits Christmas

So here is the thing. I am a creator. I like to create different worlds, characters, situations, scenes, history and etc. So once again I am venturing off into the world of creator-owned comics and graphic novel-hood. Starting finally with my stories involving a character I've been developing since I was, well, sixteen. His name is Ananami (which I had though I came up with originally, but recently due to an impromptu web search discovered other people have named their characters that as well. Oh well.) and he has gone through many different changes. As I have, and my characters and stories tend to develop along with myself. So here I am with his current carnation and story: Blood Tales. It's going to be awesome. My plan is to develop all the necessities for a package to be sent to Slave Labor Graphics. I'm going to make sure it's amazing and professional and everything. As soon as I get a large format all in one printer (I've been eying a specific one at my local Staples) I will upload images of my progress and maybe some vlogs covering it as well (inspired by Skottie Young's blog).

On another note I have been doing a lot of sketching lately which have culminated into beautiful completed illustrations. All of them are Christmas themed as I am inspired to do so. These I will upload once I have said printer as well. I am using the color theme of reds and greens as per the color themes of the season after all. I'm going for cartoony simplicity. It's difficult sometimes because I've developed two different styles over the years. One strictly for cartoons and one for what I consider comic book style art, even though that is subjective. But this is how I keep them categorized in my mind ha ha.

I've recently been very inspired with a renewal in the love for J.R.R. Tolkien's stories, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and his other works. Great, great novels, fantasies, poems, films, just everything. I love it all and wish to create such rich illustrious characters and stories and histories as he has and hope to learn more from him and other authors I adore as well. I have also been reaching deeper into my Art History books from college as well. So much more can be learned from these resources than what was taught in my college classes. I have a lot to learn and a lot to do. For it's more important to actually show that you're doing something you love than just to talk about it I believe.

Neil Gaiman inspired

Reading Neil Gaimans website lately has gotten me more and more inspired lately. I'm very excited. I've got I start doing more short stories and finish the ones I'm in the middle of right now. I have to make the time for everything, all my passions. It's tough but that's how it must be. I'm trying to be more reliable and organized to a point and open myself up to more things and different people. I want to get to that point where I believe I am close to what I set out to be.

Ahoy!

Ahoy! Recently I accepted my first children book illustration job! I am excited, it isn't for the illustration/book above, that's just one of the samples I sent to get the job. Luckily my other samples were all on par as well. But I'm glad to be posting here again with images and also to finally be entering the professional realm of my career paths. Only like two more paths to get on to be professional. But just because I've had success doesn't mean much right now, its good but they're small as it is. So the continuation goes on and I am doing more than ever now! Which is good. Good. It's GOOD! Sorry about that, went off a little. I'm continuing my portfolio work for NYCC in October and will be doing so until then, also for the Rising Stars contest that IMagineFX magazine is putting on for October which is great. Looking forward for more things!

Quickie

Blogging here quickly at my day job. Looking forward to working more toward my goals with my portfolio. I'm finally starting to notice that with perspective I'm picking up tricks if the trade more. Perspective was and still is my hardest thing to work at. But as they say practice, practice, practice. Last time I was in front of editors I was told to work on backgrounds and anatomy so that is what I've been doing non stop!! October ho!!
